It wasn’t easy. It didn’t happen overnight. And there were many moments when I doubted myself.

But it happened at last.

After months of networking and informational interviews I finally got that new job in a new industry I had been craving.

A fresh start. A new chapter.

Next month, I’ll be leaving my sales job within a large finance corporation to join a bootstrapped tech startup. I’ll be leaving comfort and stability for (a bit of) risk and uncertainty.

And I couldn’t be more excited.

A lot of people don’t understand the move. At 27, why leave five years of experience and growth in finance to enter an industry where I have no connections and limited knowledge?

Won’t it be more challenging? Won’t I have to start over?

Yes and yes. And that’s exactly it.

I need the challenge. I need to learn something new. I want to be uncomfortable again like I was when I first entered finance.

I want to help build something that’s bigger than me this time. I want to be around people who have built things before.

And perhaps most importantly, I want to work on something that ties into what I’ve created with this blog.

With my new job, I’ll have all of this. I’ll be able to combine the sales skills I’ve developed in finance with my passion for online content creation and online business.

My worlds are finally starting to collide.

My stars have started to align after months of uncertainty and trepidation.

And you know what helped me land the job? You know why they were willing to take a risk on me when I had no industry experience or connections?

It was because of this blog.

While I couldn’t express my entrepreneurial mentality through my day job, I was able to point to my blog to prove that I had the drive necessary to work at a startup.

They saw my ability to think outside the box. They saw my discipline in creating something week after week despite limited traffic and little reward.

This project that I embarked on ten months ago has finally paid off.

It’s an unbelievable feeling.

It proves that my intuition was right all along. You’re never stuck. It’s never too late to make a change. It’s never too late to chase a dream.

You have to unlearn all the things they taught you. You have to put yourself out there. You have to be authentic. You have to be you. People will gravitate towards that. This is how you’ll find your tribe.

With each post I’ve written, each newsletter I’ve produced, and each coaching session I’ve had, a new person has entered into my life.

I’ve formed more deep connections in the last year because of this blog than I did in the previous years of my life combined. And it’s all because I was willing to tell my story and be 100% me.

It’s helped me build the foundation for friendships with future co-workers and connected me with people at my finance corporation in ways I never thought possible.

Who knew that bringing authenticity to corporate America was not only possible, but powerful?

So it’s to this blog that I owe the lifelong connections I’ve created at my old job and to it I owe my entry into the world of tech.

And it’s to you all, my readers, that I owe thanks and gratitude. If it wasn’t for your encouragement and support from the beginning it would have been impossible to keep goring week after week.

It’s to you I owe this gateway into my new life.

And now that I’ve found the way to switch careers and enter into a new realm, I want to take you there with me.

If you’re feeling stuck right now. If you want to start designing a life around your skills and passions, then let me lead you.

Let me show you how I found my way and help you to find yours.
